Hey guys! it's Makenzie ( @makenzie-mcginty )
So I know I said we'd be back like 5 months ago, but I've been CRAZY busy and there's no one else that's active on this account anymore.
so, anyways, let's move on to the tutorial!
I'm in love with ombre nails. They're gorgeous, and you don't have to be a pro at nail art to do them. I tried them out, and got so many compliments! This is a great way to spice up your nails, whether it's an accent nail or the whole hand.
What you need:
-2 Nail Polishes. They should be the same color, but different shades. ( a lighter one and a darker one, for this look I used Revlon's Charming and Sephora by OPI's Iris I Was Thinner. You could use more than two if you'd like, but it's more work. )
-Base and Top coat
-Cosmetic Sponges. You can find these at a drugstor,e or even the dollar store. They come in huge packs. If you don't feel like buying them, go to Sephora (or any other makeup place) and get some sponges. They should be by the mirrors where you try on products.
-Scissors
-Nail Polish Remover
-Q-Tips, to clean up afterwards.
How to do it:
-Apply a thin layer of base coat to your nails and let dry.
-Once the base coat is dried, paint your nails with the lighter shade of polish. Let dry, then apply another coat.
-After that's dried, take your sponge and cut it so the sponge is the same height and width as your nail.
-Take your nail polishes and paint the cosmetic sponge so that each color takes up half of the sponge.
-Put the sponge on your nail and apply pressure (but not too much) for 5-10 seconds.
-Take the sponge off the nail, and voila! ombre nails!
-Repeat for all of your nails, making sure to re-apply the polish on the sponge for each nail.
-Let dry, and apply a top coat.
-Once the top coat is dried, dip a Q-Tip in nail polish remover and clean up the edges.
-That's it! Now go show off your cool nails to your friends!
I hope you enjoyed this tip! I worked really hard on it.
xoxo,
Makenzie
